Tourist Information about Qatar

The city of Qatar is a peninsula that extends into the Persian Gulf and is bordered by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates . Although small compared to its surrounding areas, Qatar 's income is among the highest per capita in the world due to its oil and gas resources.

Qatar gained its independence from being a British protectorate in 1971 but still struggles with its neighbors because of territorial disputes and civil unrest.

In 1989 Qatar was opened to the world and tourist visas were being issued for people who have taken an interest in visiting this city, although due to terrorist attacks, Qatar 's tourism is hampered despite the added attractions of hotels and various attractions.

Because of the heat and the frequent sandstorms in the area, visiting during spring, summer and winter might leave you with nothing to do so it is advisable to visit during the month of November or late March to early March

The Doha Corniche is a popular base for those who are visiting Qatar . It is known for its seafront lined with five and six star hotel and restaurants. Formerly a quaint fishing village Doha is now a major trading city that has a large British and American expatriate population.
