Qatar, getting there and around

By Air :

The Doha International Airport is the only airport to get in and out of Qatar . Qatar is a frequent destination from major cities in Asia , New York , India , Pakistan and London to name a few and includes flights by Gulf air and its National carrier Qatar Airways. It is located approximately 5 miles off of Doha and offers taxi and limousine services out of the airport to any point in Qatar . Foreign exchange facilities are available through the Qatar International Bank. Among the other services include a duty free shop, restaurants, snack bars and male and female mosques.

By Car:

A limousine service is available from the airport and Doha 's classic orange and white taxis will take you anywhere you want to go at a lower rate. The larger hotels however do provide guests with a shuttle service to and from the airport.

By Train :

No trains are available to and from the city of Qatar .

Getting Around

There are taxi services that go in and around the city. This is the main type of transportation for residents and tourists in Qatar . Since there is no real public transportation here and the local bus system is not advisable for expatriates, rent a cars are a popular alternative to walking. It is also common for frequent visitors to import their own cars or buy one locally since fuel is abundant and inexpensive.
