By plane - The Jorge Chavez International Airport is located in Lima and has frequent flights all over the world. 98% of Peru 's international flights go through this gateway. Peru has no local carrier as the Aeroperu ceased operations in 1999. However, its domestic airlines include Aero Condor, LC Busre, TANS Peru, and Star Peru.

By ship - Cruise lines have recently been popular as Hapag Lloyd, Cunard, and Princess Cruises have frequent trips to Peru included on their tours in the South Pacific Ocean . Two ports are used by these lines, the Callao port in Lima and the San Martin port in Ica .

By taxi - Taking a taxi is the best means to travel Peru as this is the available means of transportation. However, taxis don't have metres so it is advisable to agree on a rate before taking the cab. By bus - If you are on a shoestring budget, taking a colectivo (bus) is the most economical way of going around. Omnibuses, microbuses, and minivans are available for any kind of land trip in the city.

By train - Three rail lines in Peru service the country, including the Cuzco-Machi Picchu route, the Cuzco-Juliaca-Puno route, and the Arequipa-Juliaca route. It is quite uncomfortable to take the train, however, since it tends to be crowded with people and luggage.

By car - Car rentals are available in the city under AVIS, Budget, Hertz, and Dollar lines. However, it is not the most advisable method to move around as the Peruvian traffic is said to be notorious any time during the day.
