Haiti, main attractions

Cap-Haitien

This is Haiti 's second city and former capital. The city of Cap-Haitien captures more of the Latin culture than the main city. Its streets are filled with Spanish influenced houses and buildings and has been known as the 'Paris of Antilles'.

Cap-Haitien also has some of the country's best beaches.

Port-au-Prince

A place of people, rundown buildings, open manholes, murals and graffiti of Creole sayings. Port-au-Prince is a capital unlike any in the Carribean. It is also home to Marche de Fer which translates to Iron Market. It is a mix of Paris and Africa filled with stores, stalls, and stuff. All in all an overwhelming experience indeed.

The Bassins Bleu

It is three pools that join into one spectacular cobalt colored waterfall. It's color is attributed to dissolved minerals in the water which is what the falls were named for.

Etang Sumatre

It is Haiti 's largest salt water lake and holds over 100 species of waterfoul, flamingos and crocodiles. Like the Bassins Bleu, Etang Sumatre has a very distinctive shade of blue due to the minerals in the water.
