Also known as the Rich Coast in Sapnish, the Republic of Costa Rica boasts a diverse history. Situated mainly in Central America , it is enclosed by Nicaragua in the north and Panama in the southeast. This vast land is divided into seven provinces, namely, Alajuela, Cartago, Guanacaste, Heredia, Limón, Puntarenas, and San José , with this last province serving as its capital. In contrary to i ts continental neighbors, Costa Rica is an outstanding paradigm of political stability in the region, and occasionally referred to as the " Switzerland of Central America ."
Costa Rica , although basically still depends on the agriculture, has attained a relatively high standard of living. There is a prevalence of land ownership and tourism is a briskly growing industry. Costa Rica 's economy relies on tourism, agriculture, and electronics exports. It emerged from depression in 1997 and has then shown resiliency on its growth.
