Lantern Festival

This falls on the 15 th day of the 1 st lunar month of every year. This is celebrated all over the country, and originated in the Han Dynasty. During the festival, a special kind of dumpling called yuan xiao is served. This is also the reason why this is called the Yuanxiao Festival.

Zigong Lantern Show

This is held from early February to early March of each year. It dates back in from Tang Dynasty. During the Lantern Show, a porcelain " dragon " and a glass " peacock " are showcased along with numerous colorful silk and paper lanterns.

Water Splashing Festival

This is held every 13 th to 15 th of April each year at Yunnan Province. Enjoy dragon boat races, peacock dances, country fairs, and the highlight of this festival - water-splashing events.

Hainan International Coconut Festival

Held at Hainan Province during the 3 rd day of 3 rd lunar month every year, this popular event boasts of lantern displays, variety shows, international dragon boat racing, sacrifices offered to ancestors, and weddings in Li and Miao tradition.
