Brazil, main attractions
Brazil is home to a gamut of attractions, such as world-famous beaches, eco-tourism, and historic cities. Here are some of Brazil's best attractions.
The Amazon Jungle and River
The Amazon jungle has over two million species of flora and fauna and it extends from Peru across to Brazil and up to Venezuela. The most famous part lies in the Northern state of Amazonas. Because of its thick jungle, boat is the only means of communication.
The Amazon River extends from Peru in the west to Brazil in the eastern coast. The width of the river depends on the season; during the rains it can swell to up to 50 kilometers wide.
Ipanema
Located in Rio de Janeiro, this is one of the most richest and urban beaches in the world. The stretch of white sand is perfect for beach activities such as walking, tanning, and people-watching.
Pão de Açúcar
This is known as Sugar Loaf in English. Cable cars climb 1300 feet above Rio and the Baía de Guanabara, perfect for viewing the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Parque Nacional de Tijuca
This 47 square kilometer forest is all that is left of the spectacular jungle that once surrounded Rio de Janeiro. It is full of beautiful waterfalls and trees.
