Procession of Our Lady
The relics of the patron saint of Tournai, Nicholas Verdun, are kept in the crypt of the cathedral. In 1092, the Bishop ordered that the relics be paraded around the town to end the spreading of a plague, and indeed the epidemic ended. Since then the parade has been reenacted to commemorate the miraculous event every 11 th of September.
Heritage Days - Back to the Middle Ages
Celebrated during the 10 and 11 th of September, Liege turns back time 500 years ago during the Middle Ages. A total of 480 activities keep the city busy. Activities include guided tours through the rich medieval heritage of the city, exhibits, concerts, recitals and markets.
Visitors can view the historic Saint-Croix, Saint-Jean-l'Évangéliste and Fort de la Chartreuse. Exhibitions showcasing works with medieval themes are displayed in Liege Museums and Galleries.
Open Monument Day Flanders
Every September, Flanders opens the doors to monuments and buildings which are normally closed to the public. Guided tours, musical performances and other activities are done during the Heritage Day.
